Stoneyhurst College

Stonyhurst College is a leading co-educational Roman Catholic independent school, on the Stonyhurst Estate, Lancashire, UK. The school has been fully co-educational since 1999. Stoneyhurst is a day and bording school for students aged 3-18 years old.

The school was originally founded in Saint-Omer, near Calais, in 1593 by Fr Robert Persons SJ under the patronage of Philip II of Spain. Stonyhurst College is the oldest continually active Jesuit school in the world.

Stonyhurst has about 800 students. 500 students study at Stonyhurst College (ages 13-18) plus 300 students study at the preparatory school, Stonyhurst St Mary’s Hall (ages 3-13). Stonyhurst prides itself on a global perspective and welcome applications from international studentss. Students come from over 27 countries.

Stonyhurst is located within a secluded and safe 1,000 acre estate, a beautiful rural setting in Lancashire’s Ribble Valley. Overlooking Pendle Hill and the magnificent countryside, the location is stunningly peaceful and is inhabited by many varieties of wildlife for pupils to explore and enjoy.
